Vitamin D is important for regulating and controlling phosphorus and calcium metabolism by increasing the absorption of these minerals in the intestine. This vitamin also affects the rate by which bone is made as well as maintained. One softgel contains 2,000 IU of vitamin D3 also known as cholecalciferol. This provides 500 percent of the daily required amount.

Vitamin D, a fat-soluble vitamin, is important for maintaining calcium levels in the blood. It does so by enhancing calcium absorption from the food you eat and/or supplements that you take. It is also important for reducing loss of calcium to urine. Both of these functions help to maintain calcium homeostasis in the body to prevent calcium from being taken from bone and creating osteomalacia (softening of the bones). If you don't have enough calcium in your body, calcium will be taken from your bones to support other body functions.

Most of the vitamin D in your body is actually made in your skin with the aid of sunlight. When sunlight strikes your skin, cholesterol in your skin gets converted to vitamin D. This form of vitamin D is known as cholecalciferol. There are other forms of vitamin D.

If you are vegan, avoid fortified dairy products, alcoholic or a person with kidney or liver issues, you may have a vitamin D deficiency. If you have kidney or liver problems, you have the ability to make vitamin D but you won't be able to activate it.

How to Use: For adults, take (1) softgel daily with a meal. This product does not contain preservatives, salt, corn, wheat, yeast, soy, milk or sugar.
